A Saturday to Remember!

The 10th annual Seacoast Family Promise cookout and school supply distribution was a homerun

On August 27, the Seacoast Family Promise campus in Exeter was a hive of activity and energy. Twenty-seven current and past Seacoast Family Promise families came out for a day of burgers, games, cupcakes, cookies, and, to top it all off, a shopping spree through a sprawling selection of school supplies.

This yearly event provides both a day of fun and a chance for families who are either currently part of the Seacoast Family Program or alumni to go home with backpacks filled with new school supplies. By the end of the day, 65 backpacks were packed with supplies including lunch boxes, pens, pencils, rulers, crayons, markers, pocket folders, composition books, notebooks, binders, and much more.

"Having the chance to get these school supplies is such a relief," said Taryn, a mom and former guest of Seacoast Family Promise. “This is just so helpful. By staying connected to Seacoast Family Promise, I know I have the support I need, which is huge."

Over 125 volunteers teamed up to make this incredible event happen, including Seacoast Family Promise staff and Board members, community friends and neighbors, a group of Hampton Seniors, and Peggy's Parties (a local non-profit that supplied games). Volunteers and donors purchased supplies, bought backpacks, sent monetary donations, made food, helped families find supplies, and supervised field games.
